Welcome to Caffeinated Chaos, where business deals happen between diaper changes and friendships are fueled by caffeine. I'm Whitney GaN, your host, and I'm here to talk all things business parenthood, and of course keeping up with the BFFs, whether you're juggling the boardroom, the playroom, or just here for some coffee fuel chaos. We've got you covered. Get ready for real talk, laughs and a whole lot of heart as we dive into the beautiful mess that is entrepreneurship, parenthood, and everything in between. So let's embrace the chaos together. Ated, of course. You know that awkward moment when someone hands you a business card and you have no idea what to do with it? Here's the thing. Even in this hyper digital world, business cards are not dead. They're just evolving. Okay? So my company GaN Studios, we print business cards so people can submit they're designs to us. We print them, we have different options, and somebody was like, should I get business cards? I feel like nobody uses business cards anymore, but let me tell you friends, that is not the case. Okay. So I wanted to come on here really quick and talk about this because it is something that's happening that I'm noticing as a company that prints business cards, but also as somebody who networks. So, okay. Here are a few things. First, I wanna tell you about a time I went to a networking event. It was a little while ago, and I felt so proud of myself because I brought my business cards, which I had made for the very first time, and I. It was exciting. Meanwhile, half the people there just tap their phones together and exchange LinkedIn profiles. Don't get me wrong, I am tech savvy and I do know how to do that as well, but I remember standing there and thinking, am I showing my age? Am I ancient? Oh my gosh, I'm so old. But guess what? My little rectangle of Cardstock still made an impression. People would glance at it, feel the texture, compliment the design, and then follow me online. A business card isn't just about giving someone your email anymore. It's a physical reminder that you exist. It's branding in the real world and something quick like a business card, especially if you're at a popup, can be quickly grabbed by someone as they move through all the booths. No one, especially if your booth is busy, is going to stand in line to wait to scan a single QR code off your table. And so this is kind of what we talked about when I was talking with this client, is there are ways to make. Use of your business cards in a creative way. So creative, yet practical. So this is typically what I would tell people. Make it simple, but make it memorable. No overcrowding info dumps, clean, modern, branded. Some people wanna put every social media that they're on. You should actually just put your top two if you wanna go that route. Okay? One person her card, looked as if it was her Instagram feed. Cute, really cute. But then that's all they included was their Instagram. So. Think about how you can keep it simple. Keep the card memorable and get them the info that you actually want them to connect you through. Okay? Add a QR code. this is one thing that I've been adding, asking many of my clients recently is. Do you wanna put a QR code on this? Because people love quick links. Send them to your website, your portfolio, or even just to your Instagram. These are quick, easy ways to get them to grab your card and instantly engage with it. Invest in good quality. A thick card feels better than a flimsy one, and it says that I care about the details. Obviously. My company makes business cards, so I make my own. But before we started doing that, I used to make some from like Office Depot and Staples. And don't get me wrong, all those places are cool in their own right, but there is a significant di difference on how much you spend and the quality of the car that you get. So just keep that in mind. And of course, shameless plug. But if you would like to get business cards and support of small business like mine, you can totally do that. The link is in the show notes, and you can visit GaN sues.com. Always have a few cards on you because you never know when you're going to meet your next client collaborator or connection. And the last thing you wanna do is not have a card and have your phone be dead. That is not, not cute. I love the phone aspect. I like the tap, but sometimes let's be real internet. It doesn't wanna agree with you in certain places, and so having a card, having that backup is always a great thing. I always have a few on me. It also keeps my children entertained when they want something to play with. I just whip out a business card and then they can use it. And my daughter, she goes around and she like, she doesn't even know what mommy and daddy does, but she promotes the heck out of the business because she'll go around and say, this is my mommy. This is my daddy, and show them my card. And so, I mean, hey, if I get a client out of that, she has done her job. Okay, let's be real. Some people only want to connect digitally. I get it. That's okay. Don't take it personally. I never take it personally. Having both a digital and physical option does make you versatile and that's the goal. Okay. So like I said, some people will wanna tap and that's fine. Some people will want card, that's also fine. But it's great to have both in case you ever, like I said, are in a situation where maybe the internet doesn't work or maybe your phone is dying. Okay. So are business cards dead? Was the question I was asked? Are business cards dead? Absolutely not. I think they're just another tool in your connection toolbox. Use them wisely. Make them you. Make them stand out, make them memorable. That's if you don't remember anything else. Just remember that it's not about handing out. A hundred cards. It's about making five real connections that really matter. Thanks for hanging out with me. This was a very short episode. It was just to answer some questions I've been getting. I'm gonna throw out some of these questions more often onto the podcast and have little short little snippets. All right. Thank you for joining me. I will see you all in the next one. That's a wrap on another episode of Caffeinated Chaos. I hope you're leaving with a little more clarity, a lot more inspiration, and maybe even an extra shot of motivation. If you love today's episode, don't forget to follow us. Leave a review and share it with a friend who could use just a little chaos and caffeine in their life. Until next time, keep embracing the mess. Chase your dreams and make magic happen. One caffeinated, chaotic moment at a time. I will see you all soon. Bye now.
